Please read the below information to gain a better understanding of who we are, how we operate and how we can work with you. If you have any further questions, please let us know and we would be happy to book a time to have a chat.

 

Where are you based?

The May Studio is based out of a home studio in Dee Why, NSW 2099 Australia. We made the decision to operatively solely from a home studio, so that we can continue to serve through any unexpected lockdowns. For this reason, we unfortunately do not offer the ability for clients to attend photoshoots in person. If you would like to be present, we are happy to organise to book a studio for the day at an additional cost.

Do you work with international brands?

Of course, we work with brands all over the world on a regular basis. The process doesn’t change if you are 2 minutes away from our studio or on the other side of the planet. We handle all the creative direction over the phone or email, and ask our clients to post the products to us when they are ready.

What is your turnaround time?

Each project varies based on the size and the amount of deliverables, however we do recommend leaving a minimum of 10 business days from the project commencement date for our smallest package.

I have a tight deadline, what can you do?

We always aim to get the final product back to you as soon as possible, however we would hate to rush your project and it effect the quality of the final product you receive. We do offer emergency rush fees if needed, however these are quoted based on the size of the project and are not a guarantee.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

We understand that when you run a product based business, you are working around manufacturers, postage, designers schedules and timeframes, which can easily push you back. We do allow for a project date change, with at least 1 weeks notice. Less than 1 weeks notice will incur a admin fee of $150 to re-schedule the project at our next availability. We can only re-schedule a project once, however we are very understanding people, so just let us know what’s happening and we can see what we can do!

How far in advance should we book in our project?

We would always recommend contacting us as soon as you know you are confident you are wanting to proceed with the project. We normally book out 5-6 weeks in advance, we will try our best to be as flexible as we can where possible.

What is involved in the creative direction?

After we have onboarded your brand, we create your own personalised milanote (think digital pinboard), which we ask you a few questions to gain a better understanding of your brand, and your expectations for the project. When we have had a look through all of your answers and inspiration images, we dissect the look and feel and create our own mood board/shortlist for you to have a look over to ensure that we both are on the exact same page. If this is a stage that you don’t want to be a. part of, and would rather us do what we think works for your brand, you can be as or little involved as you like.

Do we need an additional prop budget?

We have a wide range of props we have collected from beautiful stores and places over time, that are perfect for complimenting a variety of products. You will have access to our full prop collection within your shoot cost, however if there is a specific prop you require, it will be an additional fee, invoiced separately. We would recommend having a small shoot budget if you are looking to have specific fresh flowers featured in your images, otherwise, we have a vast range of dried pieces on hand.

Models + Locations

Do you work with models?

Absolutely, we have a handful of models that we work closely with on a regular basis. Here is some information about them.

Can I source my own models?

If you would like to use your own sourced models that is absolutely no problem, however, there would be additional fees as we would need to hire a studio or a property to shoot from (you may expect to pay $400-500 for an alternative space).

Can we hire a location for the shoot? Do you charge a travel fee?

Yes, we have a range of properties we have found in Melbourne that are perfect for photoshoots. If you have one in mind, we would love to hear about it.This is an additional fee that will be charged separately to photoshoot cost. 

We only charge a travel fee if the location is further than 50km from Dee Why, which can be discussed at the time of booking.

After The Photo Shoot

Can I drop off my products to you?

As we shoot from a home studio - it is a home and a private space. We kindly ask that you please arrange a courier to send your products to us. 

Do you allow for revisions on the final images?

Photography: Unfortunately, we only dedicate enough time to complete a project to the size it was booked in as. This does not allow for buffer space to re-do the work to the same quality. We will always work to the best of our ability to execute the vision you shared with us in the pre-production mood board, as well as our style that you booked us for.

Can we purchase the raw images?

Unfortunately we do not offer the sale of raw images as they are not a true depiction of our vision, or a final product we would be proudly to put our name to. We want you to have the best content possible, and the editing process is arguably the most important step in creating beautiful content.
